Two Panamanian policemen sentenced to 80 months in prison for rape

Eighty months in prison was the sentence. Sergeants, Jorge Enrique González and Humberto Urriola Córdoba,found guilty for the crime of aggravated rape to the detriment of a minor, highlights a decision of the fifteenth court in charge of the judge, Leslie Loaiza.
The resolution also establishes the penalty of 200 days fine at the rate of $ 5.00 per day, which totals $ 1,000.00 fine for the crime of embezzlement for use to the detriment of the National Police (PN).
The event occurred on the night of January 5, 2014, approximately 11:30 pm when they were apprehended and held inside a bar, two ladies of legal age, two boys and a 17-year-old girl.
All were transferred in a patrol commanded by the sergeants to the police station on December 24, there the boys were held as adults; Not so the teenager, who was transferred by the units in the patrol to another site where she was sexually abused by the two police units.
Within the resolution, the fact is confirmed by the direct pointing of the victim and the testimonies of those held that day, who maintain that the minor was not taken down with them to the police station.
On the other hand, the agents agreed to have had sexual contact with the minor, who had the responsibility to carry out their official duties to transfer her to the Childhood and Adolescence Police, using the working hours, equipment, and state vehicle to satisfy her sexual appetite.
The two accused in the exercise of their functions as units of the National Police were given custody of the minor, to be transferred as apprehended, detained or deprived to the police station, however they moved her to a secluded place durng hours of service, uniformed and violated the minor.
Taking into consideration all these circumstances, the base penalty of 120 months of imprisonment for the crime of aggravated rape is fixed, to which a third of the penalty is reduced (1/3), for the abbreviated process, thus being the penalty liquid prison for 80 months.
On the other hand, the accessory penalty of disqualification to exercise public functions for an equal term of 80 months is established, which will begin to run from the fulfilment of the main penalty.
