Still today, 6 years after his expulsion, Mr. Tuffney still helps the San Jose hospital in Darien

The British American Foundation for Panamá is still an active registered charity but stands dormant due to Mr. Tuffney’s expulsion for life. The foundation provides financial help every year to cover the shortfalls by this administration so staff and patients can enjoy Christmas and other activities throughout the year. This hospital is the one that was highlighted in 2018 for poor health and safety standards, and a lack of investment by the state.
