IACHR to examine in Panamá human rights cases

PANAMA CITY the Inter-American Court on Human Rights (IACHR) will attend 37 public hearings on human rights cases from 21 countries in the region from December 1 to 7, at its 159th regular session of the second semester that was established today in Panama City.

The President of the IACHR, James Cavallaro, said during the opening ceremony that the sessions will decide cases, study thematic reports and cover 32 lines of work comprising 21 countries in the region.

The President of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela, told the members of the IACHR that the country complies with the obligations to respect human rights.

"Our country respect and complies with the judgements issued by this body (IACHR), faithfully respecting its constitutive legal framework," he said.
